Dr. Shams-ur-Rehman Toor

Introduction
Dr. Shams ur Rehman Toor is the youngest son of Late Mr. Zafar-ul-Islam Toor. He was born and brought up in Pakistan. He holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering (from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan), M. Eng. in Construction, Engineering, and Infrastructure Management (from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand), and Ph.D. in Project Management (from the National University of Singapore (NUS)).
He is currently working as Senior Program Management Specialist for the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD), the poverty reduction arm of the Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Prior to joining IDBin November 2009, Dr. Toor was lecturing at University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. His research interests include project management, leadership, organizational behavior, knowledge management, cross-cultural issues, and management from Islamic perspectives. He has taught various undergraduate and post-graduate courses in project management, published widely in international journals, spoken in numerous international conferences, and contributed to various books. He also serves on editorial boards of many international journals. Dr. Toor has also delivered several professional seminars and lectures in leading organizations. He has also delivered a number of professional training programs in the IDB Group. During his professional career in Pakistan, Dr. Toor has also worked for the National Engineering Services (NESPAK) and Toor Concrete Group of Companies as a structural engineer.
During his academic and professional career, he has obtained several scholarships (UET Merit Scholarship, HM King of Thailand Scholarship, and NUS Research Scholarship) and won various awards (Top Student Award, AIT Most Appreciated Student Award, NUS President Fellowship Award, Emerald Literati Network Award). He is an Ex- Ex-Officio Member of Board of Trustees of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Ex-Youth Parliamentarian of Pakistan. He is also listed in ‘2010 – Marquis Who’s Who’ in the World’. He has travelled to more than 50 countries around the world for academic and professional pursuits.
