The Founding Chairman (1947 – 2016)

Introduction

Mohammed Zafar-ul-Islam Toor was the founding Chairman of Toor Concrete Group of Companies. He was an engineer, architect, entrepreneur, scholar, and philanthropist. He was born in 1947 to Hakim Mohammed Usman Toor and Nawab Begum in Pakpattan, where he completed his high school. In 1965, he went to the historically famous Government College of Technology, Rasul (now University of Engineering and Technology, Rasul), District MandiBahauddin, to complete his diploma in Civil Engineering. Upon completion of his studies, he served in several positions in the local and district government from 1968 to 1981 when he resigned from his government job and came to the business world.

He founded and ran several businesses during his lifetime, including construction contracting, precast concrete manufacturing, consulting, and poultry. He also successfully practiced his architectural skills and expertise for more than three decades, designing several thousand buildings, which include houses, mosques, commercial buildings, and industrial buildings across Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Okara, and Vehari districts. He was also advisor on several high-profile construction projects across the region.

He established Toor Concrete Precasters (TCP) in 1988. At that time, TCP was among very few precast production units in the Southern Punjab. His professional prowess had already earned him a good name in the city of Pakpattan and beyond. His persona, quality and standard of products produced by TCP helped it grow quickly into a brand that is now well known across the province of Punjab in the field of precast construction.Toor Concrete Precasters grew to become the Toor Concrete Group of Companies producing a wide range of precast and prestressed concrete products.

In 2007, he established the Toor Islamic Center (TIC), a unique platform for research on the Holy Quran and its publication. TIC has been doing a lot of valuable research on the Urdu translation, grammar, and classification of subjects discussed in the Holy Quran. Several research works of TIC are expected to be published in the near future.
